
While we take immense care for cleaning floor and walls of our home, poor ceiling often goes unnoticed. It is time we pay attention to ceilings of our homes and follow the listed cleaning tips for keep them free of dirt, grim, cobwebs, bugs etc:
Cleaning a bare ceiling
For cleaning plain and bare ceiling, use a rough mop that would scrap it off its dust. Such ceilings can also be cleaned with vacuum cleaner for sucking up its dust and cobwebs.
After dry mopping, it is time for wet cleaning. Take mild liquid soap and dissolve it in water. Soak a cloth mop in it and wring it hard to squeeze out its water. Now use the long hand of the mop to clean the ceiling. However, wear glasses while wet cleaning of ceiling or dirty water will drip into your eyes.
Cleaning of high and low ceilings
The low ceilings are easy to clean as mid-sized ladders or stools help in reaching them. However, higher ceiling would demand more care and expertise. The best way is to have a long-handled mop that would reach up easily and would facilitate cleaning with climbing up. Also, start cleaning and mopping of the ceiling in one decided direction else many spots would get missed. While cleaning ceiling do not use too much of soap or its residue would leave ugly patches after drying.
Cleaning of textured / layered ceiling
Cleaning of textured ceiling can be little risky for the fear of damaging its texture or layers. For such ceilings, vacuuming is the best option. However, these can also be cleaned with a dry mop or a soft brush with nimble hands. Do not rub textured ceilings vigorously or the plastered portion would come off leaving behind ugly glares. Clean the layered or textured ceiling in smaller sections to keep it intact. Dry up its one section before moving onto another. Also, take clean water and mop for every section lest stubborn dust streaks would develop that would only be camouflaged by paint.
