It is said that colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions. This might be the reason how artists and interior designers have long known that color can dramatically affect a person’s mood, feelings and emotions.
In a recent poll conducted by decor.magicbricks.com on the preference of wall colors, the results obtained showed that the color blue emerged as the most popular choice, with 41 percent of the people choosing it over other colors like red, yellow and white.
Only a surprising 10.4 percent people chose the color of Excitement, red. A bright, warm color that evokes strong emotions and is mostly associated with love, warmth, and comfort, red is also considered rather intense, even angry.
22.5 percent of the people chose yellow, the color of warmth and brightness. But it is the most fatiguing to the eye due to the high amount of light it reflects and can create feelings of frustration and anger.
The color of cleanliness and purity, White, was chosen by 26.1 percent people. White essentially represents purity or innocence and can create a sense of space, but is also described as cold, bland, and sterile.
Blue emerged as the winner, with 41 percent people choosing it for its cool, soothing effect. Blue is the color of the mind; strong blues are known to stimulate clear thought and lighter, soft hues calm the mind and aid concentration. It is also the color of clear communication, and that might be the reason for couples preferring a shade of blue in their bedrooms.
Through its beautiful associations with the sky, the ocean and water, most people associate blue with openness, peace and tranquility and these benign cues make people feel safe in terms of being creative and probing.
Blues is also the color most preferred by men and is often used in offices because it is thought that people are more productive in rooms that have the color blue. Apart from that, blue can also lower the pulse rate and body temperature. It is no wonder that it is the people’s favorite color.
