It is a happening trend to use a very contrasting color on a single wall of the room. While the other walls of the room may be white or light color, using a dark tone on one of the walls effectively brightens up the entire room.
Shalmali was also happy with the color combinations she had got going in different rooms of her house.
Rest of the walls were white while a single wall in each room had a brilliant dark tone. However, soon the contrasting color combination became monotonous since though different shades, the color was essentially plain.
She was looking for something to spice up the walls. She chose to make some good decals in white for her color walls.She was not looking for something out of the world.
She wanted some simple and elegant designs that would take off the monotonous feel off the walls. She pondered over some ethnic Indian designs and some wonderful quote decals, but that would take away the lighter feel of the walls, she thought.
Finally Shalmali opted for fine ‘birds and vines’ design. “This felt very right for our home. We have wide windows on the other walls and there is a lot of greenery outside the house.
This decal felt like an extension of the outside nature into my house. And after installing the decal it felt as if the boundaries of my house were broken and it had merged into the nature outside.”
These were not some out-of-the-world designs that would mesmerise one. The key factor that heightened the aesthetic appeals of the decals was the colors involved and the due thought put in the size of the designs and the art involved.
For the bedroom wall, the design involved was of a much smaller size, yet effective.
